On the adventure to find a healthier alternative snack for my children I came across Van’s. Van’s sent me a wonderful assortment of their natural gluten-free crackers, cereal and snack bars.
It all started back in the 1970s at the original Van’s restaurant. It was there, inspired by our California beachside roots, that we first dished up whole grain and gluten free hot ’n toasty waffles. By the late 1980s, we decided it was time to bring our tasty waffles to a whole new group of customers – right in their local grocery stores.
Van’s Fire Roasted Veggie crackers has 16g of whole grains such as brown rice, oats, millet, quinoa and amaranth. These crackers would pair well with a vegetable dip or stand alone on their own. In addition, these crackers had a nice crunch to them and even have 3g of protein per serving!
The Perfect 10 crackers have 6 whole grains such as brown rice, oats, millet, quinoa, amaranth and teff and also have 4 seeds such as Flax seed, Sesame, Poppy and Caraway. These crackers are perfect for dripping or eating with a slice of cheese on top.
Van’s Say Cheese snack cracker packs are made with whole grains and cheddar cheese. They are great to take on the go and put in your children’s lunch bag. Each cracker is packed with wholesome cheesy goodness. I always love a good crunch when I am eating crackers and these crackers have a great crunch factor.
Van’s Cranberry Almond snack bars are gluten-free and made with oats, flax, cranberries and almonds. With each bite, you can taste the fruity, nutty deliciousness. My husband loved these bars the best and said they would be perfect for him to take going to work each day. My husband does not eat lunch most the time and since these have protein, they would provide him energy needed to get through the day. These are perfect for breakfast, snack and any time of day! With school starting, these are great to add to the lunchbox.
My children love cereal and most the time they want the sugar cereal like fruit loops or cookie crunch. I was so happy that I got the opportunity to have my children try Van’s Cinnamon Heaven for a healthier choice than their regular cereal. For breakfast before going to school, my kid’s usually choose cereal to eat because it is quicker than cooking. Van’s Cinnamon Heaven cereal has 17g of whole grains and 5 g of fiber per serving. In addition, it has just the right amount of cinnamon to give it some sweetness. My kids and husband enjoyed the cereal and ate it every morning for breakfast before school. Van’s also makes a Honey Nut Crunch cereal as well.
Overall, the products are not for me. While I did not care for them, I do think these are perfect for individuals that are more accustomed to these types of foods. My sister is a vegetarian and has been for many years. One thing I have learned that with vegetarians protein is not as easy to import into your diet so therefore, you need to find foods to incorporate protein. With that said, Van’s products have protein with each serving and are gluten-free and natural. You can locate Van’s products using their locater here.
