I received an assortment of products from Newman’s Own Organics and was pleasantly surprised how good these were. Newman’ Own Organic is a subdivision of Newman’s Own and became an independent company in late 2001. All of Newman’s Own Organic products are certified organic so you not only are eating healthier food but it taste good too.
What does organic mean?
The USDA National Organic Program (NOP) defines organic as follows:
“Organic food is produced by farmers who emphasize the use of renewable resources and the conservation of soil and water to enhance environmental quality for future generations. Organic meat, poultry, eggs, and dairy products come from animals that are given no antibiotics or growth hormones. Organic food is produced without using most conventional pesticides; fertilizers made with synthetic ingredients or sewage sludge; bioengineering; or ionizing radiation. Before a product can be labeled “organic,” a Government-approved certifier inspects the farm where the food is grown to make sure the farmer is following all the rules necessary to meet USDA organic standards. Companies that handle or process organic food before it gets to your local supermarket or restaurant must be certified, too.”
I had the pleasure to try various Newman’s Own Organics products and since there is so many I am going to tell you about some of my favorite ones and what we will be giving away in a giveaway to one lucky reader.
Newman’s Own Organics Pretzels were the first snack product made, as these were Nell’s dad (Paul Newman) favorite. Since the pretzels were such a big hit they expanded, the line to include many varieties of pretzels such as spelt (light, slightly sweet, nutty flavor. With a stronger outer hull than either oats or wheat.), rounds (salted or unsalted), salted sticks, high protein, rods tin sticks, honey wheat mini salted thins, and mighty mini.
The pretzels have a nice crunch and are great for dipping, coating with chocolate, adding them to a trail mix or just eating them plain for a great snack. My daughter loves to dip them in ranch dressing and I love adding them to my Chex mix. Sometimes I just enjoy snacking on a crunchy pretzel while watching TV.
Newman’s Own Organics Chocolate Cups have 3 cups per 1.2-ounce package; there are five flavors to choose from Peanut Butter in Dark Chocolate or Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate Peppermint Cup and a rich Caramel cup in either dark or milk chocolate. I love chocolate and these are one of my favorite from the Newman’s Own Organics line. The rich creamy texture of the caramel cups is decadent. I had the chance to try the peanut butter and the caramel cups and both were delicious. The peanut butter was creamy inside and it was heavenly.
My next favorite product is the Sour Licorice. Do not pucker up yet! It is not overly sour as it has a sweet and sour sugar on them. I found them to have the perfect balance between sweet and sour. When I was a teenager, I loved overly sour candy but as I got older, I like a little sour just not overpowering. If you enjoy licorice and want a kick these are perfect for you. These come in flavors Sour Strawberry, Sour Mango, Sour Cherry and Sour Apple. In addition, their regular licorice has flavors Black, Strawberry and Pomegranate.
Newman-O’s are a chocolate cookie filled with delicious cream center. These scrumptious cookies come in six flavors which include:
Original • Peanut Butter • Chocolate • Hint O’ Mint
Ginger ‘n’ Cream • Wheat Free Dairy Free
I had the chance to try the original and the chocolate. I thought the chocolate was delicious and while I did like the original I thought, the original was not as sweet as the chocolate. These would pair well with coffee, tea or a glass of milk for dunking.
Newman’s Own Organics has dried fruit, popcorn, hermits, coffee, olive oil, and more. Newman’s Own Organics even has pet food! You can find Newman’s Own Organic in your local grocery store in the organic section or online at their website.
Newman’s Own Organics is allowing one Tricia’s Treasures reader to win 4 of my favorite products! I hope these become a favorite of yours!
