Holiday Gift Guide 2014

Nothing tastes better than grinding your own coffee beans. One may ask why whole beans over ground coffee? Very good question as I never thought much about it myself or bought many whole beans to know the answer before now. Whole beans are more flavorful and will produce fresher quality coffee. When you use coffee that is already ground, over time the fragrance will be less and then you will lose some of the flavor. I highly recommend to grind a few days worth of beans at a time to keep the quality of the beans. We all love fresh coffee right?

Is there a difference in coffee grinders? Yes! Who would have thought that a certain type of grinder would matter? If you do not use a decent grinder, the flavor from the beans will not extract and your coffee will not have the most flavor it could have had. If you care about your coffee and want a great grind I highly recommend a Burr Grinder. Blade grinders will chop your coffee beans into tiny pieces. You may as well have thrown the coffee beans on the floor and used a hammer to smash them.

Burr coffee grinders do exactly as they say they actually grind your beans and not chop them. The coffee beans, grind between the burred plates which will grind the beans uniformly. This, in turn, will help alleviate any clogging issues and will make your coffee experience better. This brings me to tell you about the Capresso Ceramic Burr Coffee Grinder.

20141009_204115                                                                                             When you first get your unit and take off the top you will see it has settings to select for the type of grind that you want. Depending what you want to use the coffee for, you will then select your desired setting. We selected medium as this setting is good for all Capresso units and most drip coffee makers. Once you have your setting put the top back on and fill it with beans.

The markings on the container guide you how much to fill. Do not overfill on the line. You may only want to grind as much as you are going to use so the coffee does not lose its aroma and flavor.

You will want to make sure you read the manual provided as they explain how to properly clean your unit and what parts detach and what parts to not detach. I found this coffee grinder to work great. It quickly ground my coffee beans and it was easy to clean. I think fresh coffee taste the best over the ground at the store. I now buy whole beans to use in my grinder. This would make the perfect gift for the holidays. Who doesn’t like coffee?

Capresso has a great selection of products on their website. I now own two Capresso kitchen appliances and cannot be more pleased with the quality of their products. I hope to get one of their coffee makers next as I need to have their whole line in my kitchen! If you want to see my review of the Capresso Iced Tea Maker, you can find it here. I use it every day and it has been my favorite kitchen appliance ever. My husband is in love with it too.
