Don’t despair, just because you can’t afford a new outfit, all is not lost. There are lots of little things you can do to ensure that you look great at your office party, without blowing your budget.

Here are some easy ways you can look and feel great whilst sticking to your budget.

Some pretty jewellery can help give the most boring dress a unique twist. Instead of overdoing the jewellry, wear one stunning statement piece, whether that’s a necklace, a bracelet or even a ring.

If you have any old or broken gold or silver jewellry, why not sell it to a second hand jewelers and use the profits to invest in a new piece.

Wearing one statement piece means that anything else you are wearing should be neutral and discrete. If you have a cute little black dress, you could team this with a stand-out accessory, such as a clutch or necklace. For some pretty accessories have a look at online sites such as JustFab Alternatively, if your budget stretches as far as pair of low cost shoes, invest in a statement pair. There’s nothing wrong with wearing something old with something new, many people make the mistake of thinking that their whole outfit needs to be brand new.

Makeup can also be used to transform your party look. If you are really stuck for a statement piece, then there is no reason not to use makeup as it. If you do choose to use makeup as a statement, ensure that everything else is minimal, otherwise you run the risk of looking too over the top. A general rule with makeup statements, is to only make one part of your face the statement – if you choose a smoky eyed look then keep your lips bare or use a neutral colour on them.

Going to the hairdressers for a posh do can set you back hundreds. Instead, all you need to do is learn to tweak your hair yourself. For a sophisticated look, place you hair up in a high bun, you can use a bun ring to get a better shape if necessary, and use grips and hairspray to hold it in place.

If you are adamant that you want a new look, then why not consider a cheaper alternative than an expensive hair do. Why not just get a different cut. For example, it is amazing at how different a full fringe can make you look.
