A shadowy field – S&M

So, there are sexually ill people or rich “rich possessors”? The demarcation line is rather unclear. And sexologists, psychiatrists and even neurologists are not at all certain how fetishism, sado-maso practices and other such bizarre techniques can be classified, oscillating between dropping the temptation to define them as deviant behaviors (and going to describe the brain variations induced by them ) or, at the opposite end, minimizing the pathological element as if exactly this type of behavior would succeed in making a little light in the “shameless” field of sexuality.

The reality is that sado-maso fetishes and practices seem to have already been accepted by the current society, fascinated rather than disgusted by excesses of this sort: as it seems, tens of millions of people around the world practice a form of “soft” sado-masochism, the demand on this market being very eloquently illustrated by the rich offer of “bondage” courses and “efficient” dominating techniques, or by the shops, like Cirillas,  where the interested can the purchase of fully anonymous latex equipment, whips and related cats. As a result, no one notices that there is a multitude of adults who willingly and unwillingly submit to all sorts of other bizarre, seemingly harmless practices.

A complete picture of “paraphilias,” a neutral term with which science has replaced the perversion punitive, is almost impossible to obtain, given that only the most serious cases are reached by physicians, and these are also those tested in few imaging studies which seem to identify some anomalies in the brain areas of so-called “sex offenders.”

Between normality and perversion

To believe that a unique cause of these disorders is virtually impossible. To use an analogy, we believe that each of us when born is in to develop a vast array of sexual preferences as it can learn to speak foreign languages, but once it has acquired a “mother tongue of sex” born from the influence of biological and environmental factors, it becomes part of the hardware and it influences how to think about actions throughout life. See additional info.

However, it does not rule out the possibility of an individual changing his “out of the box” scheme, learning how a “foreign language” would replace the one that is causing his or her problems (or society). It is not an easy thing to do. And anyway, the fact that an individual has less conventional sexual interests is not enough to get a diagnosis of paraphilia. Some specialists even want to remove this term from the new edition of the DSM, the psychiatrist’s manual, precisely because the border between normality and perversion is first and foremost cultural and then biological.

Until a few decades ago, homosexuality was listed among perversions. Today, we considered pathological feminine frigidity, which in the past would have been a virtuous behavior, as well as excess libido – the so-called sex addiction – to a man he was regarded with sympathy and sometimes even a bit of envy. Before putting a label (which can hurt the person concerned) , deregulation must be studied in the context in which it occurs. Scientists, however, are about to wind in their definitions, without which medicine would probably feel lost. Instead of removing paraphilias from DSM, it would be more important to conceive more precise definitions to identify true pathologies.

Physical Affections

The structure of the nerve branches in the pelvic area is very different in women than in men. In the case of women, nerve endings are distributed throughout the pelvic area – from the vaginal walls to the clitoris, to the perineum and anus. Moreover, in every woman the orgasm is different, and in the case of the man, things are much simpler and more regular.

Affections can be physical or mental. We can talk about disorders of the digestive system, nervous system, migraine circulatory system or bellyache. They can also be simple somatization or can turn into systemic illnesses if their source is not listed.

Sexual activity is a factor that can stimulate self-esteem and can help the individual fulfill the most beautiful dreams about family, career, social interaction. If this activity is dissatisfying, the individual’s self-esteem decreases, and he may develop any of the conditions described above.
