Many technological changes have come over the past ten years when we talk about automobiles. In 2019, Nissan wanted to make sure that does not change with the new edition of the Altima. This high-tech model year provides a lot of safety and driving experience features that all should be able to appreciate. With twenty-five years of experience in the Altima line to learn from, 2019 will be the second year of the sixth generation for manufacture’s bestselling sedan.
The first technology that is the vision of Nissan’s Intelligent Mobility is called ProPILOT Assist which is a single-lane hands-on driving assistance technology. This will reduce the workload on the driver by reducing the amount of input required for steering, braking, and acceleration input under some driving conditions.
The best example of these driving conditions would be single lane highway driving. Other smart safety features include an automatic rear braking system which would apply the brakes if it notices something in the way while the driver is reversing. This system creates a Safety Shield 360, which provides front, side, and rear safety monitoring and technology to intervein if necessary. Some of these technologies include Lane Departure Warning, Radar-based Blind Spot Warning, Rear cross traffic alert, high beam assist, automatic emergency brake with pedestrian detection, and the previously mentioned rear automatic braking.
To improve the driving experience this edition of the Altima will come optional with either a 3.5-liter V-6 engine or a 4-cylinder direct injection power plant. This four-cylinder engine assists to gain torque and horsepower while making improvements on noise, vibration, harshness and enhanced fuel economy and emissions. The 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine also offers an AWD system on all trim editions.
